What is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia is a painful condition that affects the muscles and joints throughout the body. Patients often complain of various tender points, which are hypersensitive to the touch. Additional symptoms include: numbness and tingling, severe fatigue, anxiety, depression and irritable bowel syndrome.
What causes Fibromyalgia?
There is no known cause for the disease but it appears that infections and physical or emotional trauma may trigger the condition. Genetics may play a part as well.
What can GMPM do for my Fibromyalgia?
Your specialist will listen to you. We will learn about the severity, duration, location and type of pain your experiencing.
We will conduct a physical examination to rule out other possible causes of your discomfort.
Blood tests may be ordered to rule out other conditions.
Your GMPM physician will discuss medications which are designed to assist you with the variety of symptoms associated with Fibromyalgia.
We will recommend various exercises and massage therapy techniques that are designed to strengthen your body and reduce your pain.
A cure for Fibromyalgia does not currently exist. However, through the use of multiple therapies, GMPM patients reduce their pain significantly and are able to return to their daily tasks.
