Can I Do Anything to Prevent My Abdominal or Pelvic Pain?

Here are some great ways to minimize pain so you can do the things you enjoy:

  1. Diet.
    • Avoid foods that irritate you. Coffee, acidic foods (tomatoes, sodas, vinegar, etc), and fatty (fried foods, etc) are common foods that cause substantial gastrointestinal distress.
    • Gluten is a protein composite found in wheat and other grains. Gluten sensitivity may gastrointestinal stress as well. Talk with your doctor if you have concerns.
  2. Exercise.
    • Exercise helps mood, promotes blood flow, and reduces stress. Talk to your physician before starting an exercise program.

  3. Home Remedies.
    • Ask your physician if you can take over-the-counter medications such as Aleve or ibuprofen as it can help with inflammation and pain.
